In diesem Jahr ist England oder besser Gro\u00dfbritannien aus der internationalen Presse nicht mehr wegzudenken. Sei es das 60j\u00e4hrige Thronjubil\u00e4um der Queen, die Olympischen Spiele, die im Sommer in London stattgefunden haben, der 15j\u00e4hrige Todestag von Prinzessin Diana und nicht zuletzt die skandal\u00f6sen \u201eOben-Ohne-Fotos\u201c von Herzogin Catherine. Die ganze Welt feiert, tanzt, trauert, weint, fiebert und f\u00fchlt mit diesem Land und ihren ber\u00fchmtesten Vertretern, den \u201eRoyals\u201c, der k\u00f6niglichen Familie.<\/p>\n

Aber was von den Briten steckt denn in uns Deutschen? Sind wir wirklich so grundverschieden oder einander doch viel \u00e4hnlicher als wir denken? Haben wir uns im Laufe der Zeit nicht viel von ihnen abgeguckt, den ber\u00fchmten britischen Humor, die Musik, den Glamour? Aber auch wir werden in Gro\u00dfbritannien als \u201edie neuen Deutschen\u201c wahrgenommen und akzeptiert.<\/p>\n

Und was ist mit der Sprache? Was \u00fcbernehmen wir von den Briten? Ist \u201eBritish English\u201c nicht unsere wichtigste Fremdsprache? \u201eDeutsch-Englisch\u201c<\/a>, \u201eEnglisch-Deutsch\u201c wird auf dem \u00dcbersetzungsmarkt und auch bei Lingua-World am h\u00e4ufigsten gefragt. In unserem Unternehmen arbeiten auch viele britische \u00dcbersetzer und Lingua-World hatte sogar bereits die Idee, nach Gro\u00dfbritannien zu expandieren. In Deutschland beginnen die Kinder mittlerweile schon im ersten Schuljahr mit Englisch, manche sogar schon im Kindergarten. Dar\u00fcber hinaus ist die englische Sprache in den deutschen Medien und der Popul\u00e4rkultur allgegenw\u00e4rtig. Es ist daher nicht verwunderlich, dass viele Deutsche schnell und einfach Englisch lernen. Aber um die Sprache Englisch richtig gut zu k\u00f6nnen, braucht es ein bisschen mehr. Deshalb ist es sinnvoll, auch einmal in das Land selbst zu reisen, zum Beispiel f\u00fcr einen Sprachkurs, um sich vor Ort von der Sprache, aber auch von den Eigenschaften der Briten, ein eigenes Bild zu machen. Das ist bestimmt eine gute Basis, um auch die deutsch-britischen Exportbeziehungen zu intensivieren. Was meinen Sie? <\/div>

Do you speak English?<\/h2>\n

This year, England, or better said, Great Britain has been a constant focus of the international press, be it due to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Olympic Games that took place in London this summer, the 15th anniversary of the death of Princess Diana or, last but not least, the scandalous \u201ctopless photos\u201d of the Duchess of Cambridge. The whole world is celebrating, dancing, mourning, crying, rejoicing and sympathising along with this nation and its most famous ambassadors, the Royal Family, or as the locals call them, the \u201cRoyals\u201d.<\/p>\n

So what exactly do we Germans have in common with the Brits? Are we really like chalk and cheese or are we actually a lot more similar than we think? Haven’t we picked up some of their qualities over time, for example the famous British sense of humour or the nation’s music and glamour? We are also being seen in a new light in Great Britain, where we are being noticed and accepted as \u201cthe new Germans\u201d.<\/p>\n

And what about language? What have we picked up from the Brits in a linguistic sense? Isn’t \u201cBritish English\u201d now our most important foreign language? „German > English“ and \u201cEnglish > German\u201d are the most sought-after language combinations on the translation market and here at Lingua-World. A multitude of British translators work for our company and Lingua-World has even already played with the idea of expanding into Great Britain. Children in Germany now start to learn English in their very first year of school and in some cases even at nursery school. The English language is also extremely common in the German media and popular culture. It therefore comes as no surprise that many Germans are able to learn English quickly and with ease. Nevertheless, truly mastering the English language requires a little bit more than just learning the basics. It is therefore a good idea to also travel to Great Britain yourself, for example to complete a language course and gain a first-hand insight into both the language in its natural habitat and the qualities and characteristics of its British speakers.
