China ist eine Nation, der wir Europ\u00e4er zweifelsohne Respekt zollen. Neben Brasilien, Russland und Indien geh\u00f6rt China zu den so genannten BRICS-Staaten, in denen die Wirtschaft floriert. Im Sport lieferte sich das Land bei den Olympischen Spielen unl\u00e4ngst ein hei\u00dfes Kopf an Kopf-Rennen mit den USA, was den Medaillienspiegel betraf. China gilt als \u201edie Werkbank\u201c der Welt und ist somit eine der starken Wirtschaftsnationen! Aber was wissen wir \u00fcber die Chinesen; was treibt sie an, was unterscheidet sie so sehr von uns? Ist es der Flei\u00df, sind es die Erziehungsmethoden? Sind wir etwas zu soft, was unsere Erziehungsma\u00dfnahmen betrifft?<\/p>\n

Die Sprache Chinesisch ist mittlerweile auch gel\u00e4ufig und wird sogar als Schulfach angeboten; Klassenfahrten und Sch\u00fcleraustauschprogramme nach China sind auch nichts Au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnliches mehr. In K\u00f6ln, dem Hauptsitz von Lingua-World, feiern wir 2012 sogar das \u201eChinajahr\u201c, d.h. die 25-j\u00e4hrige St\u00e4dtepartnerschaftsjubil\u00e4um mit Peking (chinesisch: Beijing) wird gew\u00fcrdigt. Dabei r\u00fccken die K\u00f6lnerinnen und K\u00f6lner mit ihren chinesischen Freundinnen und Freunden das Reich der Mitte im chinesischen Jahr des Drachen in den Fokus und lie\u00dfen dazu in diesen Tagen beim \u201eDrachenfest\u201c die Drachen tanzen.<\/p>\n

F\u00fcr Lingua-World und den \u00dcbersetzungsmarkt sind mittlerweile auch die \u00dcbersetzungskombinationen Deutsch-Chinesisch und Chinesisch-Deutsch<\/a> sehr gefragt und lukrativ, da dies eine sehr komplexe Sprache ist und deshalb auch einen anderen Status hat als herk\u00f6mmliche Sprachen. Who dance with the dragon?<\/h2>\n

China is a nation that has certainly earned the respect of everyone here in Europe. Alongside Brazil, Russia and India, China is one of the so-called BRICS countries, all of which currently boast booming economies. Where its sporting achievements are concerned, China recently entered into a neck-and-neck race with the USA to become the top nation in the Olympic Games medals table. On top of all this, China is also considered to be the world’s top \u201cmanufacturing powerhouse\u201d and is therefore one of the world’s ultimate economies. But what do we really know about the Chinese? What drives them and what makes them so different to us? Is it their diligence? Do their educational methods have something to do with it? Are we too soft where our own educational methods are concerned?<\/p>\n

\"China\"<\/p>\n

The Chinese language is now commonly used around the world and is even taught in schools in some nations. Class trips to China and student exchanges with Chinese schools are no longer unique occurrences. In the German city of Cologne, which is home to the Lingua-World head office, we are even celebrating the \u201cYear of China\u201d in 2012 in honour of the 25th anniversary of the city’s twinning with Peking (or as the Chinese call it, Beijing). The citizens of Cologne are therefore joining forces with their Chinese friends to focus on the \u201cMiddle Kingdom\u201d throughout 2012, the Chinese Year of the Dragon, for example by coming together to let the dragons dance at the city’s recent \u201cDrachenfest\u201d kite festival.<\/p>\n
